frequently asked questions
A chance to get to know me, or be nosy 🙂
What did you study at university?
I studied History at the University of York. When applying at eighteen I was torn between a literature degree or history but ended up going with history because I thought it would be more ‘practical’ and I didn’t want to lose the love of literature….
What are your favourite authors?
There are almost too many but here are a handful: Haruki Murakami, Ian McEwan, Donna Tartt, David Nicholls, Scott F Fitzgerald, John Steinbeck and George Orwell.
For poets; Carol Ann Duffy, William Blake and Slyvia Plath. (cliche but true)
What are your favourite books?
Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, One Day by David Nicholls, The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, Saturday by Ian McEwan, Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell and so so many more….
What are your preferred genres?
- Contemporary fiction 1900-present
- Crime fiction/thriller
- Non fiction (political)
But there isn’t a book I wouldn’t try 🙂
What are your hopes and dreams?
I have many and I think that’s important.
I would love to become an author one day, but I feel I need more ‘life experience’ in some capacity. Journalism is the field I hope to break into with potential further study. Or I would like to pursue a Masters in Literature and potentially go into teaching or publishing with that 🙂
